Mountain Peak Espresso Rum

Created from pure molasses and real, fresh-roasted coffee, Mountain Peak is the perfect marriage between West Indies style rum and robust espresso. Using coffee beans grown in Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, we infuse an already flavorful island rum with rich, creamy coffee flavors that greet your nose and embrace your taste buds.

Our Process

How it’s made

Step One

Every batch of Mountain Peak starts with fresh water and pure, dark brown molasses. The mixture is carefully heated and then fermented for a week to allow an array of deep, complex flavors to develop.

Step Two

We copper pot distill the fermented “distiller’s beer” and then load it into a second copper pot where it’s distilled again to further refine and concentrate the delicate rum flavors.

Step Three

We then hand-steep the resulting spirit with real, natural coffee before proofing it down to 40% alcohol (80 proof) with our very own Hilton Head Island cloud-sourced water.

Step four

Finally, we lightly sweeten the spirit with pure cane sugar to round it out for pure drinking enjoyment.

 Espresso Manhattan

1 oz Mountain Peak
1 oz rye whiskey
Dash simple syrup
3 dashes Angostura bitters
2 cocktail cherries
Orange peel

Stir all ingredients in a rocks glass with ice. Rub orange peel around rim of glass if desired and garnish with cherry.

Berry Coffee Smash

1 oz Mountain Peak
1 oz bourbon
4 fresh blackberries
1/2 oz lemon juice
Dash simple syrup
Mint sprig

Muddle berries, mint, and syrup to glass. Add ice, lemon juice, and liquor. Stir and garnish with berries.

Mountain Girl Scout

1/3 oz Mountain Peak
1/3 oz Toasted Coconut Rum
1/3 oz Whiskey Girl Butterscotch

Dip shot glass rim in melted chocolate and toasted coconut if you’re feeling fancy. Shake remaining ingredients with ice and pour into shot glass.

Espresso Old Fashioned

1 oz Mountain Peak
1 oz rye or bourbon
Dash simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Orange or lemon peel

Shake all ingredients but the peel with ice and strain into a rocks glass. Squeeze orange peel over glass to extract oils.

Espresso Mule

2 oz Mountain Peak
4 oz ginger beer
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
Lime wheel for garnish

Fill a copper mug with ice. Pour in Mountain Peak, add lime juice, and stir. Top off with ginger beer and garnish with a lime wheel.


1 oz Mountain Peak
1 oz rye whiskey
3 dashes Peychaud Bitters
Dash of simple syrup
Absinthe rinse

Rinse a rocks glass with absinthe. Add other ingredients over ice and stir.

Espresso Negroni

1 oz Mountain Peak
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet or dry vermouth

Stir ingredients with ice in a rocks glass and top with an orange peel.

Mountain Peak Volcano

2 oz Mountain Peak
3 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz cream of coconut
Pineapple wedge

Shake all ingredients with ice and serve in a hurricane or collins glass with a pineapple garnish.

Espresso Martini

2 oz Mountain Peak
2 oz cold espresso
Orange twist

Shake Mountain Peak and espresso with ice and pour into a chilled martini glass. Squeeze in oils from orange peel.

Grandfather Mountain

2 oz Mountain Peak
Orange slice + orange wheel
Maraschino cherry
Sugar cube
3 dashes black walnut bitters

Muddle orange slice, cherry, bitters, and sugar in an old fashioned glass. Add ice and MP and stir to combine.
